Digital Twin Dash: Operate the Turbine, Outsmart the Failures

Advanced Technology Activity Station
Innovation Ambassadors: Israel Silber, Scott Warnick, and Micah Moody, Pacific Northwest National Laboratory

Put your operations skills to the test in the Digital Twin simulation game, where you'll "run" a hydropower turbine using simulation sensor data and watch your decisions play out in real time. Using PNNL's high fidelity DT portal, you'll operate a 3 D printed turbine model, trigger different scenarios, and race against emerging anomalies to see if you can keep performance high and failures at bay. Along the way, you'll learn how LSTM powered Digital Twins deliver predictive insights that boost efficiency, extend asset life, and help operators prevent costly downtime.

AI, Robotics & the Future Hydro Workforce: What's Changing and What's Next

Enhanced Collaboration, Education, & Outreach Activity Station
Innovation Ambassadors: Haijing Liu, Arielle Cardinal, and Meghan O'Reilly, National Laboratory of the Rockies

Explore how robotics and artificial intelligence – known as RAI -- are reshaping hydropower operations as we walk you through the National Laboratory of the Rockies' initial assessment of RAI-driven job task impacts, shifting skill demands, and evolving workforce strategies across the energy sector. Attendees can compare their organization's current level of RAI adoption, share implementation insights, and see how cross-industry lessons and hydropower‑specific research inform practical upskilling and reskilling pathways. Learn where automation is most likely to transform O&M roles-and what utilities can do now to strengthen workforce readiness, knowledge transfer, and long-term operational resilience.

HydroXS Live: Turning Flow Into Revenue

Improved Valuation Activity Station
Innovation Ambassadors: Gregg Semler and Daniel Reiff, InPipe Energy, Inc.

Explore a scale 3D model of the HydroXS® and watch real‑time data stream in-flow rates, carbon offsets, electricity generation, and revenue produced. Attendees can view case studies and video testimonials showing how in‑conduit micro‑hydro systems are creating new value streams for dam owners across the U.S. and internationally. Complete a short questionnaire to earn a stamp and qualify for a complimentary system assessment!

Hydropower Market Bingo!

Optimized Regulatory Processes Activity Station
Innovation Ambassadors: Megan Johnson and Rocio Uria-Martinez, Oak Ridge National Laboratory

Join us in a round of Hydropower Market Report Bingo-where each square highlights fresh insights from the latest U.S. Hydropower Market Report. As you play, answers appear on‑screen through the interactive HMR Story Map, bringing trends, project pipelines, manufacturing data, and regional statistics to life in a fun and accessible way. Win a mini prize, explore maps tailored to your interests, and discover how this powerful tool makes staying current on U.S. hydropower easier for everyone.

Run the River: Make the Call on Generation, Spill, and Storage

Sustainable Development & Operations Activity Station
Innovation Ambassadors: Andrew Munro, Bryce Greenfield, and Dave Dempsey, Grant County Public Utility District

Call the operational shots! Generate power, charge or discharge the BESS, or spill water-as river conditions and market signals shift around you. Watch the scenario light up as your choices ripple through fish flows, ramping limits, peak support, and overall system value.
