Arwyn Thomas

Arwyn Thomas is the Chief Technology Officer for Preformed Windings where he heads up the technical team, overseeing the research, design and development of the high voltage diamond coil products manufactured at the company. Prior to this Arwyn spent 15 years in the design and development of large generators and electrical drives at Siemens Gamesa, pioneering the world’s largest direct drive generator designs. Arwyn has over 50 journal papers to his name and involved in over several dozen patents, culminating in the Inventor of the year award in Siemens in 2019. Prior to this Arwyn did a PhD in electrical machine design at the University of Sheffield, UK, specialising in the design of brushless permanent magnet starter generators for aircraft applications.
