Matthew Lloyd

CLEAN CURRENTS 2026

at U.S. Army Corps of Engineers

Matthew Lloyd is a Mechanical Engineer with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Hydroelectric Design Center (HDC), specializing in hydroelectric turbomachinery. His work supports the design, rehabilitation, and maintenance of turbines and related equipment at federal hydropower facilities through design reviews, technical specifications, inspections, quality assurance, and multidisciplinary coordination.

Before joining USACE, Matthew worked as an aircraft mechanic, gaining hands-on experience with mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems. That background continues to inform his practical approach to engineering and his interest in connecting design decisions with fabrication, installation, operation, and maintenance.

Outside of work, Matthew enjoys sailing, building things, and the occasional bit of poetry. He lives in Portland, Oregon, with his wife and daughter.
