Director, Power Generation Engineering at Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E)

Phillip P. Cantarinha, MBA, PE, PMP, IAM is a highly accomplished engineering professional with a robust background in electrical engineering, project management, supervision, and management. He holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) and a Bachelor of Science in Electrical and Electronics Engineering (BSEEE). Phillip is a registered Professional Electrical Engineer (PE) in the states of California, New York, and Michigan, a Project Management Professional (PMP), and an Asset Management Professional through the Institute of Asset Management (IAM). Currently, Phillip serves as the Director of Power Generation Engineering at Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) in Auburn, California. In this role, he leads various engineering teams that support power generation projects, operations, SCADA, and regulatory compliance. As part of the Power Generation Senior Leadership Team, he is responsible for setting and delivering on the team’s goals and metrics, as well as contributing to overall PG&E goals and metrics. Phillip also leads efforts associated with PG&E’s Lean Operating System and is responsible for the safety performance of the engineering team. Before joining PG&E, Phillip was the Regional Director of Power and Energy at KGS Group, where he managed day-to-day operations and business development activities in the western United States. He played a key role in opening a new KGS office in California and supported clients with their energy needs. Phillip also held various positions at Yuba Water Agency, including Director of Power Systems and Power Systems Manager. His responsibilities included overseeing power systems operations and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. Earlier in his career, Phillip worked at HDR|DTA as a Project Electrical Engineer/Project Manager, where he led a group of Project Managers and Electrical Engineers on various projects for major clients. Phillip also completed an internship at California ISO, where he gained valuable experience in the utility sector. With a career spanning over two decades, Phillip has developed expertise in power engineering, project management, asset management, operations management, strategic planning, and business strategy. His dedication to safety, efficiency, and continuous improvement has made him a valuable asset to every organization he has been a part of.
