CLEAN CURRENTS 2026

Environmental Scientist at Stantec

Dr. Nate Marshall is an environmental scientist and eDNA lead specializing in the development and implementation of environmental genomic tools for aquatic monitoring and regulatory compliance.

With more than ten years of experience advancing eDNA applications for early detection of invasive species, rare freshwater mussels, and sensitive fish communities, he brings an expertise in designing molecular programs that enhance detection sensitivity and reduce field effort.

His work centers on translating cutting‑edge molecular methods into practical, defensible solutions for operators and regulators navigating complex aquatic resource challenges. This includes developing hydropower‑focused monitoring strategies that support ESA consultation, FERC relicensing, and long‑term compliance.
