Trevor A. Atkinson is a Research Scientist at Idaho National Laboratory (INL), where he leads and contributes to national efforts in advancing hydropower innovation and deployment. His work spans the development of the Hydropower Technology Catalog (HTC), stakeholder engagement strategies, and other assessments of small-scale and in-conduit hydropower systems.
Trevor has played a key role in identifying and addressing barriers to hydropower adoption, particularly in non-powered dams and municipal water infrastructure, and has collaborated with DOE, national labs, and industry partners to support the U.S. Department of Energy's Water Power Technologies Office (WPTO) objectives.
His research includes supporting the Hydropower Pipeline Program, which aims to centralize tools, data, and stakeholder knowledge to accelerate project development. Trevor's work emphasizes distributed, cost-effective hydropower solutions that align with evolving energy systems and community needs.
