Hydropower Engineer at U.S. Department of Energy (DOE)

Tyler Gipson is a Hydropower Engineer (contractor) for the U.S. Department of Energy’s Water Power Technologies Office (WPTO). In this role, he serves as a technical manager for various hydropower projects which includes the preparation of funding announcements, evaluation of funding applications, and the ongoing technical review and management of active projects. Mr. Gipson has served in this role since June 2023. Prior to working at WPTO, he worked for the USDOE Southwestern Power Administration as a hydrologic engineer for nine years. Mr. Gipson holds a bachelor’s degree in Biological Engineering from the University of Arkansas and a master’s degree in Biosystems Engineering from Oklahoma State University. He works remotely from his home in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
