Sedimentation poses persistent challenges to the sustainable operation of hydropower facilities -- it reduces reservoir storage capacity, accelerates wear of hydromechanical equipment, and creates environmental and operational impacts. If not effectively managed, sediment-related issues can significantly impair power generation performance and increase long-term maintenance costs.

This 2-hour seminar provides an overview of practical sediment management strategies applicable to existing and new hydropower projects. The seminar features 3 parts:

Part 1: Setting the Stage

Part 2: Hear from Asset Owners

Part 3: Tools and Technologies for Solving Problems Identified in Part 2

Key Takeaway for Participants:

-- Enhanced understanding of sediment management principles and techniques, enabling more informed decision making for hydropower projects facing sedimentation risks

-- Insight into how sediment management strategies can be tailored to project specific conditions to improve operational reliability, extend infrastructure life, and support sustainable hydropower generation.
