Martin Teal

Martin J. Teal is Principal Engineer of WEST Consultants. He has over thirty-five years of experience in the areas of hydraulics, hydrology and sediment transport.

Mr. Teal is a registered Professional Engineer in California and six other states, a certified Professional Hydrologist, a Board-Certified member of the American Academy of Water Resources Engineers and a Fellow of the American Society of Civil Engineers.

He earned his B.S. in Civil Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley, and his M.S. in Civil Engineering from the University of Iowa.

He is Chair of the US Society on Dams’ Subcommittee on Sedimentation, member and Past Chair of the Hydrology and Hydraulics Committee, and a past Vice President and Director. He is the USSD representative on the ICOLD Technical Committee on Sedimentation of Reservoirs and was Chair of that committee from 2015 to 2023. He has consulted on many reservoir sediment management projects within the United States and internationally. He was recently elected Vice President of ICOLD for the period 2026-2029.
