Erin O’Dea

Erin A. O’Dea is the President and CEO of Great River Hydro, New England’s largest producer of conventional hydropower. The company owns and operates thirteen generating stations and three storage-only reservoirs on the Connecticut and Deerfield Rivers in New Hampshire, Vermont and Massachusetts, with a total generating capacity of 589 megawatts. Great River Hydro is a wholly owned subsidiary of Hydro-Québec, North America’s largest renewable energy producer. Erin has 16 years of experience in the energy industry. Prior to becoming CEO, Erin was the Vice President and General Counsel of Great River Hydro since 2017. Prior to that role, from 2009 to 2017, she served as legal counsel for TransCanada, the former owner of the Great River Hydro assets. Erin has experience in managing legal, regulatory and community affairs while supporting both wholesale and retail power marketing and the development, operation, and maintenance of generation facilities in ISO-NE, PJM and NYISO. In her legal roles, she provided counsel on issues of federal and state law, oversaw compliance, risk management, contract negotiations and external affairs. She has a B.A. in Classics from Princeton University and a J.D. from the University of Maryland School of Law. When she is not working on hydropower, Erin enjoys keeping active with running, endurance hiking challenges and ice hockey. With her appointment in 2023, Erin became Great River Hydro’s first female CEO at the helm of this impressive fleet of hydropower generators, which have been providing renewable energy to New England for over a century.
