James Critchfield is Head of Registry & Market Integrity at CleanCounts, where he leads the development and governance of high-fidelity registries that strengthen transparency and trust in clean energy and carbon markets. He previously spent nearly two decades at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, where he directed the Green Power Partnership and helped scale voluntary green power procurement to over 100 billion kWh annually, catalyzing nearly 19 GW of new renewable capacity. An authority on energy attribute certificates, greenhouse gas accounting, and market design, he has advised Fortune 500 companies, regulators, and international bodies, and has served on the GHG Protocol Scope 2 Technical Workgroup, RE100 Technical Advisory Group, and the Green-e Standards Board. He holds a B.S. in Forestry from UC Berkeley and an MBA in International Management from the Thunderbird School of Global Management.
