Heather Adams

Heather Adams joined the New York Power Authority (NYPA) in 2022 as the Senior Director of Engineering. In this role, she oversees the Hydropower, Transmission, Civil/Structural, and Mechanical Engineering disciplines, supporting $700 million annually in capital and O&M investments, as well as managing interconnection and megaprojects across all areas. Additionally, she serves on the Board of Directors for the Hydropower Research Institute (HRI). Before joining NYPA, Heather spent 19 years at Central Hudson Gas & Electric, where she held positions of increasing responsibility in Protection & Control, Electric Distribution Planning and Engineering, Gas Engineering, and Hydro Engineering. She played a key role in developing and overseeing the electric grid of the future, including distribution automation and renewable energy interconnections. Heather also served as the Utility Chairperson for several Electric Power Research Institute programs and the New York State Interconnection Technical Working Group. She was a witness in numerous regulatory proceedings and led the development of the Gas Business Strategic Plan. Heather holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Lehigh University and an MBA from New York University’s Stern School of Business. She is also a licensed Professional Engineer in the State of New York.
