Generation Superintendent and Chief Dam Safety Engineer (CDSE) at Idaho Falls Power
Jason Cooper, PE, has served as the Generation Superintendent-Chief Dam Safety Engineer for Idaho Falls Power since March 2024. Prior to this, he was the Generation Mechanic Foreman-Chief Dam Safety Engineer. Jason has been in engineering for 21 years, in both the public and private sectors. He has worked in the electric utility sector for 13+ years. His tenure at Idaho Falls Power includes overseeing 12 years of FERC dam safety requirements. His previous positions include Staff Engineer at South Jordan City, Design Engineer at ASWN+, and Design Technician Lead at Idaho Falls Power. He spent many years in the construction industry. Jason holds a Bachelor's Degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering from the University of Utah. Throughout his career, he has been involved in numerous complex site plan designs including multi-family developments, municipal buildings, rail ports, commercial sites, water systems, sewer systems, storm drain systems, roads, and overhead and underground electrical design. Some projects of note are: Real Salt Lake’s Major League soccer stadium site plan, Idaho Falls Power’s Upper Plant sediment removal project, Upper and Lower Plant runner hub rebuilds, and Cedar Point boat ramp. Jason was raised in Southeastern Idaho. He is a talented woodworker who enjoys designing and building his own carpentry projects. He has been married to his wife Stephanie for over 30 years; together they have five children, three boys and two girls.
