Matjaz Kovacic

Matjaž Kovačič graduated in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Ljubljana, Slovenia in 2003. He devoted the first decade of his career, from 1996, to the elevator business as Design and Project engineer. He started his career in hydro power industry in 2006 when he joined Litostroj Power as Project and Design Engineer. He has since then designed and developed different turbine subsystems for various types of turbines. Since 2011, he has been working as a Chief Project and Design Engineer. In 2019, he became a deputy manager of the Design department. He spent most of his career as a chief designer working in the North American market, in Canada and the USA. As a chief designer, he led a number of greenfield turbine projects where new turbines of various types were installed: double Francis turbines, Francis turbines, Saxo... More recently, he has done most of his work on projects involving renovations or replacements of existing turbines with new ones. Among others, he managed the development and design of the first four vertical Bulb units on the Buckingham project in Canada.
