Sean Ellenson, P.E., is a hydropower engineer with more than 12 years of experience advancing water and energy infrastructure projects across the United States. His expertise spans feasibility studies, powerhouse and dam rehabilitation, turbine and pump upgrades, and the design of new hydroelectric and pumped storage facilities. He has led multidisciplinary teams delivering mechanical, civil, structural, and electrical designs, and is known for applying technical rigor, risk management, and strong stakeholder coordination to complex projects in challenging environments. Sean’s current work focuses on both pumped storage development and hydropower design for new and existing facilities, integrating lessons learned from projects across Alaska, the Pacific Northwest, and beyond. His hands-on field experience and systems-level engineering approach allow him to bridge design and operations, providing practical solutions that balance performance, cost, and long-term sustainability
