Merry Dang

Merry Dang is a hydropower and dam industry leader with more than two decades of experience in client engagement and over a decade in business development, market strategy, and industry engagement across Canada and the United States. Throughout her career, she has been passionate about strengthening the industry’s workforce, creating opportunities for emerging professionals, and bringing together different perspectives and generations. Her industry involvement has increasingly focused on one of the most pressing challenges facing the dam and hydropower sectors: developing and sustaining the workforce needed for the future. In 2026, Merry co-facilitated a workshop at ICOLD (International Commission on Large Dams) at the Conference in Mexico to address workforce capacity and the challenges associated with developing, transferring, and retaining expertise within the industry. Her broader involvement has included workforce and mentorship discussions, professional development initiatives, industry panels, and recruitment and retention efforts within the Hydropower industry. Merry serves as Secretary on the Board of Directors of the Northwest Hydroelectric Association (NWHA) and is an invited member of the International Commission on Large Dams (ICOLD) Gender Inclusion Committee. She is also the past inaugural Chair of the United States Society on Dams (USSD) Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee, as well as a past Chair and current member of the Canadian Dam Association (CDA) Communications Committee.
