Ed Hanson

Ed supports the hydroelectric department of 64 powerhouses, which provide more than 3,800 MW of renewable power to California. His daily activities include managing capital projects and supporting operations and maintenance activities including field support for both equipment repair/replacement and maintenance projects. Ed supports the Asset Management program with major focus on all of PG&E's hydro generators. Ed has provided engineering support for the Helms Pumped Storage Project, a 1,212-MW facility, for over 15 years, and has led engineering efforts to restore the plant following a catastrophic generator failure in 2011, discovery of rotor cracks on all three units leading to the complex rotor replacement projects, and a stator rewind along with multiple complex stator core repairs performed at Helms.
