Rick Laubach

Frederick (Rick) joined the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Portland District in November 2015 as a mechanical engineer in the Hydroelectric Design Center (HDC). Responsible for designing various mechanical system within the 75 hydroelectric powerhouses operated by Corps. In 2018, he took on the additional team lead responsibilities for the forward office. As team lead, Rick is the technical and administrative resource for the group. He is one of the main points of contact between the HDC forward office and the HDC Portland office. Rick has served in the engineering field for 15 years, with 6 of those years as a Federal employee with the United States Army. Spending a few years as a assistant test director, evaluating the performance of military vehicles against ammunitions and various extreme terrains. Rick has spent the majority of his career in the material handling industry focusing on overhead and gantry cranes. He earned a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Widener University.
