Clean Currents 2022

Plenary Session: The Opportunity of This Moment

In this official opening session of Clean Currents, the focus will be on the crucial role hydro plays in a clean energy society.

Recognizing the “once in a generation” opportunity for clean energy brought about by passage of the Inflation Reduction Act and the Infrastructure and Investment Jobs Act, speakers will share how waterpower benefits from these new laws.

Keynote Speaker Solomon Goldstein-Rose will share his “100% Solution” to addressing climate by laying out the physical steps we must … and can … acheive to reach net-negative greenhouse gas emissions by 2050. He’ll challenge the audience to ensure hydro is part of this solution.

This session also features unveiling of the 2022 winner of the Dr. Kenneth Henwood Award, the highest individual honor the National Hydropower Association bestows each year. The award is presented annually to an individual within the waterpower industry who exhibits dedication to waterpower as an energy technology; persistence in the face of institutional obstacles; appreciation and understanding of the relationships among project engineering, environment and economics; a strong commitment for fair dealing and plain speaking; and uncommon energy, enthusiasm, and excitement as a leading force in the industry.
