4th Annual Tour De NHA Bike Outing at Clean Currents
Short ride: 8:30 AM - 11:00 AM
Long ride: 8:30 AM - 1:00 PM
For Clean Currents 2024, the bike gathering, dubbed "Tour de NHA," will convene once more on October 7, at 8:30 AM PT for a 35+ mile ride along Oregon's Willamette River; ride participants can also elect to take part in a shorter 15 mile format of the route.
The Tour De NHA Bike Outing is a great opportunity to get to know your peers and deepen existing friendships – all set against a backdrop of water power.
Riders of all distance appetites are welcome. There will be a 15 mile route and a 35+ mile route, both with very few hills as we ride on bike trails along the Willamette River.
ROUTES:
Both rides will start (wheels rolling) at 8:30 AM on Monday, October 7 from the Cycle Portland Bike Shop, just a mile from the Convention Center
The two routes are:
•Shorter ride: Bike shop to Milwaukie along the Springwater bike trail, 7.5 miles each way. This is the same route as the longer ride will use to start.
•Longer ride: Bike shop to Oregon City along the Springwater bike trail, 18 miles each way. Stop in Oregon City (for a snack) and for a view of the 1889 hydroelectric powerhouse, as viewed from the top end of the Oregon City Elevator.
BIKE RENTAL:
If you can pick up a bike on Sunday (10:00 AM - 6:00 PM), you can chose from a wide variety of bike types can be rented through
Cycle Portland website.
If you need to pick up your bike Monday morning, the shop has agreed to open at 8:00 AM for our group. Please use the links below to secure your rental for Monday morning:

Networking Tip #1
- It’s always beneficial to arrive early and stay late during Clean Currents 2022.
- Being present in the “off hours” allows you to arrange meetings and have conversations with influential people in the field.
- You can review the agenda ahead of time to plan your days.
- You may also want to rethink how you use your breaks. Many people spend the time in between presentations checking in with their office, but this is one of the best times to make connections.
- Don’t dismiss the social activities—networking receptions and happy hours — as some of the best networking takes place at these events.
- You may also want to consider having dinner with fellow water power professionals to network.
Networking Tip #2
As you meet colleagues, presenters, and future collaborators during Clean Currents 2022, be prepared with a 30-second elevator pitch: share who you are, what you do, and why you are attending.
Be sure to tailor your pitch to the people you are meeting – and even consider preparing multiple elevator pitches for different audiences.
And of course, don’t forget to bring plenty of business cards!
