Herbie Johnson

Herbie began his career in Hydro with Alabama Power Company’s Reservoir Management group in 1994. He advanced to Southern Company Generation’s Hydro General Manager overseeing 32 Hydro plants rated at over 2,600 MWs. In this role he managed a multibillion-dollar hydro fleet modernization program along with pumped storage hydro development. Herbie has served in numerous leadership positions and is past two-time President/ Board Chairman of the National Hydro Association (NHA) and current board member of the International Hydro Association (IHA). Prior to joining Colliers, Herbie was a iTechnology Manager with the US Department of Energy Water Power Technologies Office. Other experiences include Southern Company Generation, Engineering and Construction Services, overseeing construction of three Combined Cycle Power Plants and numerous Solar Power facilities. Prior to joining Southern Company, Herbie served six years in the Air Force and Air National Guard achieving the rank of Staff Sargent as an Avionics technician on the F-16 aircraft. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Auburn University.
